Message from the Council President

President’s Message:

With 2021 quickly coming to a close, I would like to wish everyone a happy and prosperous 2022. I hope to see more of you at our events and I am pleased to share some highlights of the NorthEast Regional Council plans for the coming year.

Our Student Contact & Event Committee is working hard in planning and preparing for our Student/Professional day on Saturday, February 26 being held at the University of Massachusetts-Lowell. This venue features a top notch lineup of speakers offering early career advice for the ever-evolving 21st century professional workplace. Please keep in mind the venue change as this event is being held at the University of Massachusetts-Lowell Hotel and Conference Center.

I am especially excited about our other events planned for the coming year. We will present a tax topic on Saturday, January 18 (online thru On24). On Saturday April 23, we will be hosting a live educational session in Worcester, Mass. on the topics of cybersecurity and white collar crime. Our chapters also sponsor several educational events throughout the year which will be announced on this website and with email blasts. I would be remiss if I did not mention that the Hartford and Boston chapters will be observing 100 year anniversary celebrations in April and June. At the NERC conference - being held in Nashua, NH in September - the Council will be celebrating a 50 year milestone – in addition to the educational sessions currently being planned. These events are a testament to the organizational strength the Council and chapters deliver to the IMA umbrella.

Our fiscal year end is June 30 and it is not too early to consider getting involved with the Council or a chapter. We are currently pursuing a strategic plan initiative for a chapter revitalization effort focused in the eastern Connecticut and Massachusetts (Springfield, Worcester, North Shore and Route 128) areas. I encourage you to get involved with the Council and chapters given the professional growth opportunities active membership in these organizations provide. We need the ideas, perspectives and energy that you bring to the table.

We also have a campus outreach initiative for the academic community intended to promote academic-level relationships and support the formation of student chapters. Please reach out to our Council and chapter members to learn more. You can find contacts for the Council and individual chapters on this website (click “About Council”).
